Access the Install Tool

The Install Tool can be accessed in two ways:

  • by the url: www.yourdomainname.com/typo3/install
  • or by clicking Install in the TYPO3 Backend

Enable / disable the Install Tool

The Install Tool is disabled by default for security reasons. In order to enable it the admin must create a file named ENABLE_INSTALL_TOOL in the typo3conf directory. In newer TYPO3 versions (from 4.6) the ENABLE_INSTALL_TOOL can be created from the TYPO3 backend by accessing the Install menu item.

Disabling the Install Tool can be done easily by deleting this file.
